ARCHIVED - Two horseshoe whip snakes found inside Murcia homes
The reptiles were found in two different homes in the Murcia municipality
Members of the Ecological Squad from the Murcia Local Police force had to extract two horseshoe whip snakes from inside homes in the outlying districts of Sangonera la Seca and Puebla de Soto.
The incidents happened over the weekend and both reptiles have now been transferred to the Wildlife Recovery Centre.
Horseshoe whip snakes (Hemorrhois hippocrepis) are native to southwestern Europe and northern Africa and, although these snakes are not venomous, they are certainly not pleasant houseguests as they are known to bite when feeling threatened or attacked.
