ARCHIVED - Torrevieja to host its first tortilla contest: September 30 to October 3
The competition is one of two gastronomic events taking place in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province, over the next fortnight
Food lovers are in for a treat in Torrevieja over the next two weeks as the town prepares to celebrate International Tapas Day on Saturday September 25, and launch its first ever tortilla contest.
Twenty-one catering establishments will take part in the fifth annual tapas day, each offering two different dishes priced at for 2.50 euros each including a drink.
The second gastronomic event is a first for Torrevieja, the launch of a new Tortilla al Gusto Contest from September 30 to October 3, in which a dozen restaurants will compete to create the tastiest dish. Posters will be displayed outside participating restaurants and the public can sample the offerings for just 1.50 euros.
Following the foody theme, Torrevieja will once again be present at the Alicante Gastronomic Fair, III Meeting of the Mediterranean Lifestyle, at Alicante Trade Fair Institute (IFA) from September 25 to 27.
Along with showcasing a range of products, there will be gastronomic workshops, demonstrations by Michelin star chefs, contests and tastings.
