ARCHIVED - Torrevieja reopens its floating museums to the public: visit from October 19
Residents and tourists alike can once again visit the magnificent port exhibitions in the Vega Baja, Alicante province
Following months of closure due to the pandemic, Torrevieja's floating museums, located in the port area, are open to the public from October 19, with their usual pre-health crisis timetable.
The timing is perfect following the return to its home port of the iconic Pascual Flores, which has just completed a tour of European cities in which it was visited by almost 12,000 people.
The historic and recently restored floating museum is likely to remain in Torrevieja until mid-January 2022, and is joined by the S-61 Delfin submarine, gifted to the local authority by Spain's Ministry of Defence, and the former customs surveillance boat, the Patrullero Albatros III.
Visitors to the exhibition can also check out an auxiliary boat of the destroyer D21, ceded to Spain by the US Navy, a salt boat tug from the 1950s, a torpedo and Spanish mine from the Second World War, a 1958 Naval-Reinosa model Spanish Army howitzer, a depth charge launcher, an Oerlikon machine gun, a Breda Bofors cannon and a mast from the Espalmador patrol boat.
The floating museums can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30am to 2pm.
