ARCHIVED - Three mountain climbers rescued in Callosa del Segura
The trio got into difficulty at a popular mountainous route in the Vega Baja, Alicante province.
Three climbers have been rescued after one of them became trapped on the side of a mountain at the 'via ferrata' route with cables and suspended bridges in Callosa del Segura.
The drama unfolded at around 10.15pm on Monday, July 26, when one of the group, a 50-year-old man, found himself "hanging" while trying to make a final ascent, unable to move up or down.
His friends called emergency services and specialised mountain rescuers from Alicante Provincial Consortium of Firefighters' Specialist Rescue Group (GER) were mobilised who, after reaching the group, helped all three safely to the ground.
The climbers were checked over, and no injuries were reported.
