ARCHIVED - Summer 2022 Cuidando el Mar activities at the Club Nautico de Aguilas
A series of beach cleaning days and regattas to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Club Náutico de Águilas
The Club Náutico de Águilas has officially presented the activities which form part of the summer 2022 “Cuidando el” Mar campaign, and while some of the events are talks and conferences which are unlikely to be of interest to those who do not speak Spanish, others could well be attractive to non-natives.
These include the following:
July 17: An ecological fishing day begins at 10.30 at the Club Náutico.
July 18-21: Dominoes competition starting at 19.00 every evening (registration open until July 15).
July 23: Beach cleaning at remote coves which are difficult to reach, travelling by boat to the locations. Starts at 10.30.
August 6: Boat crossing to the Isla del Fraile (no motorboats please!). Starts at 11.00.
August 20 and 21: 7th Costa de Águilas regatta for ORC class boats (11.00).
August 27: Windsurf regatta at 11.00 using equipment belonging to the Escuela de Vela.
August 29: Clearing of rubbish from the seabed in the marina.
September 4: 3rd annual rowing regatta at 11.00.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
