ARCHIVED - Speed cameras on the N-332 and A-70 in Alicante amongst the most lucrative for Spain's DGT
As speed reductions come into force in Spain, data shows cameras in the Alicante province generate the most cash for the DGT.
It comes as a report from Spain's Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), reveals two speed cameras in the province of Alicante in the Community of Valencia are among the country's top 50 most prolific radars when it comes to fines.
The first is placed at kilometer 140 on the N-332, in the municipality of Villajoyosa (La Vila Joiosa), which registered 14,581 speed violations in 2020.
That equates to about 40 fines per day and places it 27th in the nationwide list.
Not far behind in 35th position, is a speed radar located on the A-70, near San Juan (Sant Joan) tunnel at kilometer two.
Last year, 13,731 speeding offenses were reported.
The reports has revealed that in fact seven radars in the Valencian Community as a whole are among the 'top finers' in Spain, with one located at kilometer 5 on the V-31 registering more than 130 sanctions every day in 2020.
However, the DGT has stressed that in 2020, the volume of offenses recorded was lower than in previous years due to the pandemic and restrictions.
