ARCHIVED - San Javier Town Hall spends 16,000 euros on 8 model planes
The planes will be painted by graffiti artists as the town promotes its aviation heritage
During last week’s session of the council of San Javier it was decided to spend 16,637 euros on the construction of 8 model aeroplanes measuring 2.5 by 3 metres in order to contribute to the efforts to promote the municipality’s aeronautical heritage.
The planes are to made from fibreglass and will constitute one of the artistic contributions of the Imagina festival to the attempt to convert San Javier into a destination fans of aviation: they will be painted by 8 well-known graffiti artists, according to councillor Isabel Madrid. The models will be decorated in the open air on the seafront, and after the event four of them will remain on display on the Paseo Colón while the other four will be re-located elsewhere in the municipality.
Another smaller model will also be painted in the same way as the one adjudged to be the winner, and then auctioned off to the highest bidder.
