Sports facilities at Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort
Tennis, padel and pools are all available on the resort
As well as its 18-hole golf course, of course, the Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort has many other sports activities and facilities on the resort itself and nearby.
The Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort features two tennis courts and two paddle tennis courts, all of them in good condition. The tennis courts can be used free of charge at any time.
There is also a multi-purpose 5-a-side football and basketball area, which can also be reserved in the Casón, the central resort clubhouse. This is open for use free of charge.
As is the case on most of Murcia’s old Polaris World developments, the best way to get around is perhaps by bicycle, and the paths and roads make cycling a pleasure as well as good physical exercise.
Cycles can be hired and will be delivered to the resort on request.
Although there is no central pool area, all 78 apartment blocks have access to one of 19 communal pools, with special children’s pools for the youngsters.
The Casón has basic snooker table facilities for family use.
Equestrian facilities are available at the nearby Peraleja Golf development, and of course the nearby Mar Menor is a paradise for lovers of water sports.
The Mar Menor which literally means “little sea” is actually Europe’s largest salt water lake. It is linked to the Mediterranean by a channel, so although it has all the appearances of being part of the sea is not actually tidal, but has a large selection of beaches. The water is very shallow close to the shore, and there are steady thermal winds in the afternoon, creating optimum conditions for teaching water sports, so kitesurfing, windsurfing and sailing are all taught and practiced in this location.
There are also a number of diving schools for scuba diving covering the Mediterranean coastline, which includes the Islas Hormigas marine park, and this coastline offers clear water and excellent dives, including wreck dives. Full PADI courses are also available, as well as try dives.
