ARCHIVED - Open air exhibition of sculptures will remain in Benidorm until october 18
The Galaxia Hung display has proved hugely popular with tourists and residents in the Marina Baixa resort, Alicante province
An exhibition of 14 sculptures by Taiwanese artist Hung Yi will remain in situ in Benidorm until October 18, the second extension in the last couple of months due to its huge popularity.
The centre piece of the Galaxia Hung exhibition located between the Paseo de Poniente, Calle Gambo and avenidas Hispanidad and Mediterráneo, is a huge colourful sculpture of two amorous swans which originally had pride outside the Town Hall in Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España. It was supposed to be relocated elsewhere in Spain in June, but the artist agreed it should remain in Benidorm so that "holidaymakers as well as residents" could enjoy the stunning work of art.

Galaxia Hung arrived in the resort on April 16 from the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia, and the 14 sculptures of animals large and small have since become a huge attraction and "icons of this summer in Benidorm", according to the local council.
Sculptor Hung Yi, 50, has exhibited his work in art museums and galleries worldwide, as well as making a name for himself producing urban art with works located in the streets of leading cities, including Valencia.
