In what is only the latest in a spate of vandalising throughout the municipality, the Gonio Park, which was only inaugurated in March this year, has been badly damaged. Police sources have confirmed that severe damage has been caused to several public amenities in recent months by “irresponsible people who think they can roam freely and damage everything that is not theirs.”
The Local Police have appealed for help from the public in locating the vandals and bringing them to justice, as the costs to repair the facilities come from the residents of Los Alcázares.
Moreover, a Police spokesperson wanted to remind everyone that anyone found to have caused damage that affects property of public or communal use "will be punished with a prison sentence of one to three years and a fine of twelve to twenty-four months."
The Gonio Park in Los Narejos, which covers more than 36,000 square feet, was opened earlier this year as one of the largest areas for family leisure in the Mar Menor.
