ARCHIVED - Navy ship visits and exhibitions in Cartagena to mark Armed Forces Day: May 28
The Navy is opening its ships and museum to the Murcian public with exhibitions, guided tours and a concert on Friday evening, May 27
To celebrate Armed Forces Day (May 30), Navy units in the Region of Murcia have organised tours and exhibitions in Cartagena on Saturday May 28.
The commemorative events kick off at 7.15pm on Friday May 27, with a concert in the Town Hall Square, followed by a solemn joint lowering of the flag at the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology at 8.45pm.
On Saturday May 28 there will be an naval exhibition organised by the different Navy units at the Juan Sebastián Elcano cruise terminal from 11am to 7.30pm.
Locals and vistors will also be able to visit the Infanta Elena offshore patrol boat belonging to the Maritime Action Force and the Sella minehunter of the Mine Action Force, which will be moored at the same pier from 11am to 1.30pm and from 4pm to 8.30pm.
Meanwhile, an exhibition by the Marine Infantry's Tercio de Levante Cynological Unit will be on display from 11.30am.
In addition, Cartagena Naval Museum will be open from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, offering a great chance to find out more about the extensive naval collection.
And for those who would like to find out more about the Cartagena Arsenal and the Submarine Base first-hand, guided tours will be held in four sessions; 10.30am, 12 noon, 6pm, and 7.30pm.
