ARCHIVED - Murcia tax advisor fakes own death on Costa Blanca
The well-known Murcia man confessed to money troubles and intentionally disappeared
The search has been called off for missing Murcian tax advisor José Luís Galiana, whose car was found driven off the rocks in the Punta Prima area of the Costa Blanca on February 17, two weeks after he had disappeared from his home.
Sources from the Guardia Civil confirm that Mr Galiana’s family has been notified that he is safe and well and his disappearance was voluntary, after the well-known Murciano contacted a friend and confessed that was in debt and had stolen some money.
The trail of the tax advisor was lost after the Local Police of Pilar de la Horadada discovered his wrecked Audi A1 in February. There were no marks on the road to indicate that the driver lost control before the car plunged into the rocks, and a short time later, video footage emerged of Mr Galiana walking away from the Punta Prima area after abandoning his car.
According to official sources, a business associate of Mr Galiana filed a complaint him with the Murcia National Police, claiming that a bankruptcy fund containing 600,000 euros managed by the tax advisor had been recently cleaned out.
The investigation is ongoing.
