ARCHIVED - Murcia firefighters raise 40,000 euros for children with cancer
Emergency service workers from the Region of Murcia completed a 1,350 km trek to Santiago de Compostela to raise money for the Afacmur charity
Firefighters from the Murcia Region Fire Extinction Consortium (CEIS) arrived at the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in La Coruña, Galicia, this Tuesday October 12 after setting off from Cartagena on October 8 on a solidarity trek.
They completed the 1,350 km journey on mountain bikes and arrived at the Cathedral in record time after taking virtually no breaks.
Thanks to donors who sponsored the trek, the firefighters have raised more than 40,000 euros for the Afacmur (Association of Families with children with cancer in the Region of Murcia) and the large sum of money will go towards providing support for children with cancer and their families.
