Municipalities in the south west and coastal areas of Murcia were the worst affected
Storms hit the Region Murcia for the second night in a row as emergency services were called to 44 different weather-related incidents between 9pm on Tuesday September 21 and 8.30am on Wednesday September 22.Although the rain and storms on Tuesday night were not as bad as those on Monday night, September 20, which left many roads and houses flooded, an enormous amount of rainwater reached the Region of Murcia in the recent downpour, and rainy weather is expected to continue throughout Spain this week.Most of the calls were in the municipality of Lorca, which was badly affected by the storm and heavy downpour, with 32 litres of rain falling in the municipality, of which 16 litres fell in just five minutes, according to Lorca council.In total 56 calls were made to the emergency services; 49 in Lorca, relating to 40 incidents (27 of which were to do with flooding in private residences), three in San Pedro del Pinatar, relating to two incidents, three calls in Mázarron, relating to one incident and one call in Cartagena.Image: 112 Región de Murcia
