ARCHIVED - Murcia allocates more than 3 million euros to road improvements
The repairs will affect municipalities such as Lorca, San Pedro del Pinatar and Águilas
Despite the resources pumped into restoring the road network damaged in the Region of Murcia by the DANA in 2019 there are still several thoroughfares that require repairs, and local authorities have this week been turning their attention to tenders in municipalities such as Lorca, San Pedro del Pinatar, Cieza, Abarán and Águilas.
Lorca
The first works to be carried out in this locality will be the repair and widening of the RM-D8 that runs through the southeast of Lorca since the contract has already been awarded. The project should be completed within eight months and will cost an estimated 1,525,693 euros.
The RM-11 that connects the city with Águilas will receive an overhaul that will consist of reinforcing the road surface on the left bank. However, the contract for this work is still out to public tender and so is not expected to begin until three months after the deal has been formalised. The budget for the job is 784,185.52 euros.
Águilas
Meanwhile, the mayor of Agriculture, Bartolomé Hernández, took a trip on Thursday November 11 to supervise the work that has already begun in Águilas. With an investment of close to 22,000 euros, contractors are tackling the subsidence and cracks in the asphalt located at Los Melenchones, Las Casicas and El Labradorcico.
San Pedro del Pinatar
Up to 735,812.40 euros will be released to improve the RM-F25 highway in San Pedro that borders Alicante, a project which has a deadline of three months for completion. A unique point of this tender is that the crew must have available at least one hybrid or electric vehicle. In addition, the company that takes on the project must hire at least one unemployed person.
Cieza and Abarán
Finally, the section of the RM-512 highway that connects Cieza with Abarán will be resurfaced to improve vehicle circulation. This is a smaller job than most of the others and should be finished within two months, costing an estimated 337,919 euros.
