ARCHIVED - More than 451,000 jabs to be administered in Valencia region this week
The accelerated roll-out of vaccinations continues in the region's provinces, including Alicante, amid a rebound in cases.
The Valencia region's Ministry of Health plans to administer more than 451,000 vaccines this week, with the vast majority earmarked for 30 to 49-year-olds as the region experiences a significant rebound in new daily cases.
A shipment of the Pfizer vaccine arrived at Valencia's Manises Airport from Cologne, Germany this morning, Monday, July 5, and 205,608 first and second doses will be given to those born between 1992 and 1991.
The rest will be used to complete the AstraZeneca vaccination schedule for people under 60, as well as other 'priority' groups.
Just over 55,000 people will be inoculated with the Modern vaccine over the next seven days, prioritising those aged between 40-59 years of age and front-line healthcare workers, while some of these doses have also been reserved by private companies to vaccinate employees directly.
Meanwhile, 31,154 doses of Janssen will be administered to those who "have not received their vaccine for whatever reason", while 159,988 AstraZeneca jabs will complete the vaccination of over 60-year-olds.
The Ministry of Health notifies the public of vaccination appointments by phone or an SMS message, so its important personal data is up-to-date and can be modified on the GVA website.
Further information can be found on the GVA + Sanidad application, and anybody with any further vaccination queries can call 900 300 555.
