ARCHIVED - Mazarrón receives 10 Blue Flags to be flown at beaches and marinas this summer
8 beaches and 2 marinas will hoist the flags as the tourism sector is reactivated
The Town Hall of Mazarrón officially received the 10 Blue Flags awarded this summer to beaches and other tourist facilities in the municipality by the Environmental Education and Consumers’ Association (ADEAC), once again boasting more of the awards than any other municipality in the Costa Cálida except Águilas.
It was for this reason that Águilas hosted the ceremony at which the Town Halls of Mazarrón, Lorca, Cartagena, San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier also received their flags for 2021, and local councillors from all the Town Halls underlined that this year the flying of Blue Flags is of particularly importance as Spain begins to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic and the tourism sector is reactivated.
With 32 Blue Flags flying in the Region of Murcia this summer the expectation is that domestic tourism may reach 80 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, although international visitors will doubtless be fewer than in previous years – all the more so due to the reluctance of the UK to place Spain on its Covid “green list” for travel.
The flags in Mazarrón will be hoisted at the beaches of Rihuete, Puerto, Bahía-La Reya, Nares, Grande-Castellar, Alamillo, El Mojón and Percheles and the marinas of the Puerto Deportivo and the Club de Regatas: click here for further information regarding all of the beaches along the coastline of Mazarrón.
