ARCHIVED - May 20 to June 6 Marine photography exhibition in Puerto de Mazarron
The focus of Ecodenuncia is on marine wildlife interacting with the waste which threatens it
The exhibition can be visited at the Casa del Mar in Puerto de Mazarrón
An exhibition is being held in Puerto de Mazarrón from May 20 to June 6 of photographs showing marine wildlife interacting with the plastic waste which poses such a threat to its survival throughout the world.
The “Ecodenuncia” exhibition has been put together by the Asociación Hippocampus, a non-profit-making organization which campaigns for the preservation of the marine environment and which takes its name from the Latin word for seahorse. It can be visited at the Casa del Mar, next to the fishing port, every day of the week except Monday between 10.00 and 13.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00.
Much of the current campaigning of the Asociación Hippocampus is directed at encouraging the removal of discarded lead weights and other fishing equipment from coastal water in San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Cartagena, Mazarrón and Águilas, as well as continuing to raise awareness of the problem of contamination in the seas and oceans of the planet.
The two photographers whose work is on display in Mazarrón are active members of the association, José Luis Alcaide and José Antonio Oliver.
