ARCHIVED - Man in Valencia suffers severe burns after putting alcohol on bites and lighting a cigarette
The victim has been admitted to Valencia’s La Fe Hospital with burns to 25% of his body
A forty-five-year-old man is being treated for first and second degree burns at the La Fe Hospital in Valencia after setting fire to himself.
The victim reportedly poured alcohol on his skin to relieve the itchiness of mosquito bites which burst into flames when he lit a cigarette immediately afterwards.
The horror accident happened at around 3.30pm on Monday September 20, at the man’s home in the town of Alcora, Castellón province.
A SAMU and an SVB ambulance were immediately sent to the scene where medics found the victim had sustained burns to a quarter of his body. He was stabilised before being taken to hospital in a “serious condition”.
