ARCHIVED - Man rescued after falling down 5-metre well in Fuente Álamo, Murcia
The faller suffered only minor injuries but was taken to hospital in Cartagena
A 60-year-old man was rescued on Wednesday afternoon by firefighters after falling into a 5-metre well or borehole on a plot of rural land close to Fuente Álamo in south-west Murcia, although fortunately he is reported to have suffered no serious injuries.
The incident was reported to the 112 emergency services coordination call centre at 17.48 by a relative of the man, who informed the staff that the well was dry and that the man was conscious and speaking to those above ground. The Policía Local and ambulance staff accompanied firefighters to the scene and after he was rescued the man was taken for a medical examination to the Hospital Santa Lucía in the eastern outskirts of Cartagena.
