The 41-year-old dislocated an ankle while riding in the mountains of Alhama de Murcia
The Region of Murcia emergency services were called out on Sunday to the mountains of Sierra Espuña to rescue a cyclist who had fallen while riding near Fuente Bermeja, in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia, and had to evacuate him by helicopter due to the difficulties presented by the terrain.
The incident was reported to the 112 emergency services line at 13.23 when a companion of the 41-year-old man reported that his friend appeared to have dislocated an ankle and was unable to move. The helicopter of the firefighting brigade was mobilized immediately and the cyclist was transported promptly to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in El Palmar, a few kilometres south of the city of Murcia.
