ARCHIVED - Hospital patients and active cases rise minimally but no new fatalities: Murcia Covid update 7th May 2021
67 new cases and one more fatality reported in Murcia on Thursday
The figures published every day by the health authorities in the Region of Murcia this week continue to indicate that in broad terms the coronavirus pandemic remains under control, but while the numbers of active cases and hospital patients remain stable or increase slightly it would be hard to say that further improvements are being made as yet.
The latest bulletin, published at lunchtime on Friday 7th May and containing data from the day before, reports 67 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, just 3 fewer than the day before, including 12 in the municipality of Murcia, 14 in Cartagena, 7 in Cieza, 4 each in Lorca and Molina de Segura and 3 each in Fuente Álamo, Mazarrón and Puerto Lumbreras. These positive results were obtained from a total of 2,176 PCR tests were carried out, giving a slightly higher positivity rate than in recent days at 3 per cent.
At the same time, the number of active cases rose by 13 to 720, and in hospitals the data worsened more significantly: the number of coronavirus patients receiving hospital treatment rose by 7 to 79, and in intensive care units the figure rose by one to 29.
