ARCHIVED - Good news for travelling expats as WizzAir links Spain to Doncaster Sheffield
The lowcost airline has included flights from the UK’s Doncaster Sheffield airport to Málaga, Mallorca and Gran Canaria during the winter season, which begins on November 1
British Expats in southern Spain and the islands will be pleased to hear that WizzAir has kept them in mind this year when planning their winter flight schedules.
Many airlines seem to cater mainly to the UK holidaymaker market and once the summer season comes to an end on October 30, flights linking airports in what are considered the most touristy areas of Spain, such as the Costa del Sol, the Balearics and the Canary Islands to the UK are generally reduced to the minimum. That can make trips back home complicated for British expats, who often end up having to travel to and from distant airports to reach their destinations during off-peak periods, adding time and hassle to their journeys.
This winter, however, they will have new options thanks to WizzAir. The airline has added two flights per week to Doncaster Sheffield from Málaga, Mallorca and Gran Canaria and will be the only airline to fly regular flights to these Spanish airports from the small but strategically placed UK airport.
WizzAir has also announced that it will be increasing the frequency of its flights between English airports and Tenerife, Alicante, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. However, it will not be flying to Alicante, Mallorca or Tenerife from Cardiff (Wales) over the winter season.
