Free public buses will run between Murcia, Cartagena and Corvera Airport this summer

Corvera Airport has a free airport transfer bus service as of Monday June 5, 2023, which is operating during the summer months and connects the airport with Murcia city and Cartagena.

Travellers flying to and from Murcia Airport can hop on these free buses as an alternative form of transport to taxis and private vehicles.

The bus transport services that the Autonomous Community had set up on previous occasions had been suspended, leading to complaints from the Croem and COEC employers’ associations since travellers arriving at the Region of Murcia International Airport had no choice but to take a taxi, although they could not always find one.

To solve this problem, the company Interurbana de Autobuses S.A. has been given direct aid worth 75,000 euros to set up and operate a free bus service connecting the airport with the Region’s two largest cities, Murcia and Cartagena.

This is the same company that ran the summer bus service last year from the airport. Now as then, for the time being there will be no buses connecting the airport with San Javier, Los Alcázares, Mazarrón or any of the other popular coastal destinations most passengers arriving at the airport wish to travel to.

In addition, the service will only run during the months of June, July, August and September, as these are the busiest months for flights, and it will stop in the winter.

The airlines operating at Corvera will offer 875,000 seats for sale during the summer season, with a schedule of 76 weekly return flights connecting the Region with 20 cities in seven different countries.
