ARCHIVED - Free brass quintet concerts at Las Cigarreras in Alicante city on May 20 and 27
Alicante promises a musical May with free open air concerts courtesy of the city's Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music.
Students from Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante will take to an outdoor stage at the Vertical Garden (Jardín Vertical) in the city's cultural El Cigarreras complex this month.
The cultural music performances will feature brass quintets, with trumpets, trombones and horns, thanks in part to a grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The shows will start at 6.30pm on:
Thursday, May 20 - Saxophone 'Ensemble'
Thursday, May 27 - Jazz Combo.
Vice Director of the Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music, Jesús María Gómez, said the aim is to entertain and "give the young musicians experience on stage before different audiences, thus refining their techniques and teaching them how to solve problems that may arise when performing live".
Each concert will last about an hour, and while they take place outside, preventive Covid measures must be respected.
A maximum capacity of 80 people has been established, and anybody interested in going along is asked to reserve a place in advance by clicking here
