ARCHIVED - Extended beach lifeguard and rescue service in Javea
Arenal beach in the Marina Alta municipality in Alicante province will have lifeguards until October 15
As Alicante province experiences temperatures well into the mid 20s and locals and tourists alike continue to head for the coast, Javea has decided to extend its summer beach surveillance beyond September.
“We want to extend the service, including beach cleaning, at Playa del Arenal until October 15 to provide greater security for users over the next couple of weeks,” said the local authority, which has drawn up a new contract with Red Cross.
Beach surveillance will be maintained at Arenal beach, although the service at Playa de la Grava and Cala de la Granadella ends today, Friday October 1.
Sadly, tragedy struck at Arenal beach earlier this week when an eighty-two-year-old man from the Netherlands died after having a heart attack whilst snorkelling on Tuesday October 28.
