ARCHIVED - Elche police find 6 kilos of drugs buried in an underground pit on rural property
5 people were arrested within the province of Alicante in connection to this particular drug trafficking incident
Officers from the Policía Nacional in Elche, in the province of Alicante, have detained 5 people from a criminal group dedicated to trafficking narcotic substances, after finding drugs hidden in an underground pit.
The investigation was launched after the emergency services received a call alerting them of a heated argument taking place in a rural property in Elche, where there were reportedly armed people inside.
Several officers from the Policía Nacional and the Policía Local went to the property and arrested two of those involved, for the crimes of trespassing and making threats.
Given the presence of firearms and the nature of the situation, police officers were suspicious that the altercation could have something to do with a drug transaction, so carried out a search of the property, during which they found a hidden underground pit on the property, containing two portable cool boxes along with 4.5 kilos of speed, 1 kilo of MDMA, 700 ecstasy pills and 40 doses of LSD.
After finding this volume of drugs on the property, two of the other individuals involved in the altercation were detained for the crimes of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization.
A few days later, a fifth person, who was also present at the argument, was arrested after a search of his property revealed 500 grams of marihuana and an imitation firearm.
With this fifth arrest, the police consider this group of criminals, all of whom are aged between 28 and 44, to have been dismantled.
