ARCHIVED - Dance show in Elche to help fund shelter for disadvantaged girls and women in India
The event to raise cash for the Dharma Foundation will take place in the Baix Vinalopo town, Alicante province, on Sunday September 26
Elche Council has teamed up with the Dharma Foundation, the Casa de la India Foundation and the Embassy of India in Spain to host a flamenco and Indian dance show in aid of disadvantaged girls and women.
The proceeds from ticket sales will go towards creating a shelter for female victims of gender violence in one of the most disadvantaged areas of India, Vrindavan, a village with 250,000 inhabitants, along with setting up classes in sewing, embroidery and tailoring.
The performance by the Monica De La Fuente dance company has toured theatres across Spain to “great acclaim”, and is inspired by the works of poet Federico García Lorca featuring musicians and dancers from Spain and India.
Tickets for the show, which starts at 8pm, cost between 12 and 15 euros, and can be purchased at the theatre box office or through the Instaticket website.
