ARCHIVED - Covid vaccine booking system extends to most of the Region of Murcia
40 to 49 year olds can book their own appointments in the majority of municipalities in Murcia
The regional health service of Murcia is continuing to expand the system by which members of the public can make their own appointments to receive Covid vaccinations as well as notifying people by telephone, and last Friday the procedure was extended to those aged between 40 and 49 in nine more municipalities.
The municipalities affected were Fuente Álamo, Águilas, Totana, Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Moratalla, Beniel and Santomera, and since then Albudeite, Campos del Río, Mula, Pliego and Torre Pacheco have also been included.
Over the last few days the demand for jabs among those in their forties has been so heavy that at one point the web platform collapsed under the weigh of users, but now that the initial surge has been overcome the vaccines are being administered at a steady rate. The same procedure is also available for those in their 50s, an age group in which almost 80 per cent of the population in Murcia have already received at least the first vaccine dose.
