ARCHIVED - Covid vaccination of 40 to 50-year-olds in the region of Valencia to start on June 17
As of May 12 the Valencian regional health authorities had administered over 2 million vaccines with 676,207 individuals fully vaccinated in Alicante, Castellón and Valencia provinces
June will be a “key month” in the vaccination campaign, according to regional president Xímo Puíg.
Residents aged between 40 and 50 in the region of Valencia will start receiving their Covid jabs from June 17 and everyone over 50 should have received at least one vaccine by the first fortnight in June.
The president of the Comunidad Valenciana, Ximo Puig, stated on May 12 that June will be a “key month” in the vaccination campaign and he also added that the region has a good inoculation rate, with over 2 million vaccines administered in total.
In the region, approximately 16 per cent of the population have already received both Covid jabs (or one in the case of the Janssen vaccine) and around 33 per cent have received at least one dose.
Furthermore, the vaccination of people living in care homes and people over the age of 80 has been completed. Over 93 per cent of people aged between 70 and 79 have received at least one dose, with around 50 per cent having received both jabs.
It is expected that the over 60’s will be inoculated by the end of May.
This week, the region of Valencia has received 267,000 doses of Covid vaccines in total and around 433,000 more are expected to arrive in the last two weeks of May, which will be in addition to those distributed by Janssen as this number is yet to be determined.
