Bus strike in North-west Murcia enters its fourth week
Workers are still owed back salary from July
The bus strike underway in the North-west of the Region of Murcia is now entering ts fourth week, with no sign of resolution to the conflict involving the Líneas Costa Cálida, S.L bus company, part of the IASA group. Concern is growing amongst local politicians that there has been no resolution to the conflict, and that routes are still inoperable.
According to the strikers around 40 workers are owed their pay packets for July, August and September, as well as the extra payments corresponding to the last two summers and last Christmas. As a result each worker is owed an average of more than 5,000 euros.
This is the fourth time that a strike by employees has been called, but the first time that action has actually gone ahead. Trades union UGT confirms that the minimum service levels are being met
On Monday, local UPyD politicians presented a motion in Caravaca requesting that the council take formal action to request that the regional transport department try to intervene and reach a resolution due to the serious problems the lack of services is causing within the municipality of Caravaca and across the North-west.
