ARCHIVED - Conde Nast Traveler names Granada as one of top 10 most beautiful cities in Europe
Granada in the Andalusia region is the only Spanish city included in the list
Granada has been named alongside Paris, Venice and Lisbon as being one of the Europe’s 10 most beautiful cities, becoming the only Spanish destination to make the list produced by Conde Nast Traveler.
The city beat other Spanish tourist favourites including Madrid, Barcelona and Seville to be named by the high-end tourism magazine Conde Nast Traveler, which praised Granada for its architecture and history.
The magazine describes the city’s Alhambra as “one of the most seductive monuments in Europe,” as well as praising Granada’s gardens, courtyards and citadels. It tells readers “not to overlook the rest of this captivating city, full of half-forgotten churches, cloisters with galleries and the impressive old Arab quarter.”
The publication also points out some of the Granada’s hidden treasures, hotels, and restaurants.
Any publicity along these lines is always welcome, particularly from high-end products attracting wealthy international travellers to the hotels and attractions of the Andalusia region.
The city’s tourism trade is certainly in need of a boost following a large drop in visitors during the pandemic.
Granada’s businesses are now hoping for a return to tourism after Andalucia last week re-opened borders between provinces and following Spain’s announcement that a planned vaccine certificate programme will allow international visitors to return this summer.
