Firefighters from the Region of Murcia managed to save both the woman and her pet
Firefighters from the Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium in the Region of Murcia were called to the San Pablo ravine in the municipality of Cieza after reports that a woman and her dog had fallen into the river.
The 112 Emergency Coordination centre in the Region was alerted of the incident at around 9.30am on Sunday September 19 and the Policía Local and regional firefighters were sent to the scene.
According to the emergency services, the woman had fallen into the river while trying to save her beloved dog and, when officers and firefighters arrived at the scene, they found her holding onto a branch with one arm and her pet with the other.
Thankfully, both the owner and the dog were rescued, although the woman had to be taken to the Vega Lorenzo Guirao Hospital in Cieza as she was displaying mild hypothermia symptoms.
