ARCHIVED - Calpe to host its first Associations Fair: November 26 to 28
32 local associations and community organisations will take part in the three-day event in the Marina Alta town, Alicante province
Calpe will host its first Associations Fair from November 26 to 28, bringing together dozens of local groups and organisations to showcase their community work in the Plaza Mayor.
Mayor Ana Sala, and Councillor for Citizen Participation and Associations, Rebeca Merchán, explained the aim of the three-day event is to "give visibility" to local associations and raise awareness of their activities amongst the public.
There will be an area with Food Trucks and an exhibition zone where the 32 participating associations will have stands. In addition, two stages will be set up for an array different activities, performances, and live rock music courtesy of the Ramonets and the Liverpool Band.
"The participating associations are very diverse, ranging from social and solidarity associations to sports and cultural associations. In addition, during the course of the fair, the ceremony to change the banner of the festive commissions will take place and the Real Club Náutico de Calpe will present the prizes for its drawing competition," explained Sala.
"In the last 18 months, Calpe has suffered a great deal and we are going to try to gradually recover it's social side. We want to bring life back to the town, to recover little by little," she added.
Meanwhile, the councillor for association stressed the fair is a "unique opportunity" to raise awareness of the associative fabric of the town.
"It is an enriching event for associations and for the town in general after the difficult times we have lived through."
