ARCHIVED - Boat mysteriously appears stranded on the rocks in Aguilas marina
The Águilas Red Cross team assisted the three crew members of the boat, none of whom were injured
As hundreds of people thronged the beach in Águilas late on Sunday night, August 14, to watch the fireworks, spectators found more to gawp at that the impressive polytechnic display. Incredibly, an 8-metre boat had appeared perched right on top of the rocks, and completely out of the water, in Juan Montiel de Águilas marina.
Photos of the spectacle are doing the rounds on social media with dozens of people taking the opportunity for a unique selfie, according to several witnesses. Many vessels travel to the coastal town for the fireworks show, and this particular boat still lay stranded early on Monday morning.
Official sources claim that the accident occurred when the boat was attempting to enter its mooring, and that the dark night and rough waves may have resulted in the ship sailing off course and ending up on the rocks.
The Red Cross of Águilas reported on its Facebook page that there were three crew members on board and that, fortunately, none were injured.
