ARCHIVED - Belgian man on trial for murder after partner stabbed to death in Calpe
The victim died of a stab wound to the heart at the couple’s home in the Marina Alta area of Alicante province
A 63-year-old Belgian man is standing trial in Alicante this week accused of murdering his partner at their home in Calpe.
The woman, whose age has not been disclosed, was fatally attacked shortly after midnight on July 22, 2019, when it’s alleged the defendant “pounced on his partner”, also Belgian, and stabbed her with a knife in the chest, piercing her heart.
She died as a result of “massive hemorrhage” shortly after the assault.
The Prosecutor’s Office has requested a sentence of 24 years, taking into account the “aggravating circumstance of kinship” given that the couple were in a relationship, and 80,000 euros compensation for the victim’s daughter.
The trial began in Alicante on Monday September 20.
