ARCHIVED - August 5 to 7 Book Fair on the seafront in Aguilas
30 authors sign their books over the weekend next to the Escala Real in Águilas
The third annual summer Book Fair of Águilas is being held over the weekend of August 5 to 7 on the seafront next to the Escala Real, bringing together around 30 authors to sign their works in person in the marquees being set up.
The signings will take place starting at 19.30 and then throughout the evening, and on the Friday prizes will be awarded for the “Cartas desde la Arena” competition, which has this year been won by Carmen Torrente Serrano under the pseudonym Maddie Thompson. Her reward is two nights in a local hotel and a range of tourist activities supplied by the Town Hall Department of Tourism.
The Book Fair is organized by Centro Papel Águilas, Taller de Prensa and the Town Hall, and the authors signing their books are the following:
Friday August 5: Marco Brunengo, Dolores Ibarra, María Seng, Ana Gil, Alfonsi García Armenteros, Antonio Cano, Rubén López, Juan Francisco Díaz, Rosa Raya
Saturday August 6: Tomás Vicente Martínez, Belén Sánchez, Lola Gutiérrez, José Luis Ortín, Marianela Ibáñez, Fran J. Marber, Francisca Martínez Merinos, Sergio Reyes, Cynthia García Egea
Sunday August: Santi García, Javier Salinas, Noelia Salas, Pedro Nicolás Aroca, Guillermina Sánchez Oró, Carmen Torrente, Andres de la Roche, María del Mar Carrillo, Martina Fiore, Diego López.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
