Three British tourists die in legionnella outbreak.
14 people were infected, 10 of them British.
Three British tourists have died during an outbreak of legionella in a Hotel located in Calpe, across the border within the Valencian Community.
All three are between the ages of 73 and 78, and are amongst 14 people taken ill, 10 of which are of British nationality, the remainder being Spanish.
In response to the situation, the Valencian Health Authorities have closed the hotel, and are carrying out investigations as to the origin of the infection.
The remaining patients are in a clinic in Benidorm.
The Valencian health Authority believe that the Hotel is the source of the infection and that its closure will prevent the eruption of any new cases.
The deaths, which took place on the 26th and 31st January, and 2nd February have been confirmed as the result of legionella pneumonia.
