ARCHIVED - Almost a third of Alicante pharmacies now offer Covid test result notification service
30% of chemists in Alicante province will inform the Valencia region's Ministry of Health of positive results on behalf of those infected
For almost a week certain pharmacies in Alicante province have been carrying out antigen tests and notifying Valencia region's Health Department of positive results.
And according to the Official College of Pharmacy, 30% of chemists in the province have now signed up for the service, meaning anybody who tests positive following an antigen test will not have to visit or contact their local health centre to report an infection.
Instead, if the test is positive the pharmacy itself will inform the Ministry of Health, free of charge.
In addition, if it is necessary to request sick leave, the patient can access the regional government's website and request it within 24 hours, together with a discharge after seven days.
Pharmacies offering the service must have a ventilated area away from other customers where the test can be carried out, and the 'patient' must possess a SIP health card.
A sample will be taken in the presence of a pharmacist with results available in 15 minutes. The health department will be notified of positive results electronically.
Participating pharmacies are displaying posters in the window and an updated list of chemists that provide the service is available on the Official College of Pharmacists of Alicante website.
