ARCHIVED - Aguilas included in scenic European bicycle routes
The Águilas municipality in the Region of Murcia is part of the Mediterranean route which stretches from Andalucía to Cyprus
The municipality of Águilas has been included in the Eurovelo long-distance cycling routes which connect the entire European continent with over 90,000 kilometres of bike paths.
Eurovelo is a network of 17 cycle routes which allow travellers and tourists to visit Europe on bicycles, as well as being perfect for local cyclists to use on a daily basis.
Águilas is part of the Mediterranean route, which stretches from Andalucía to Cyprus, travelling along the coast in Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.
Stage 16 and 17 of the Mediterranean route pass through Águilas, with a length of 6.4 km and 53.2 km, respectively, allowing cyclists to enjoy the stunning coastal views as they travel through the municipality.
Although cycling the entirety of the Mediterranean route may be a little ambitious for inexperienced cyclists, the different stages can be travelled individually as well.
