ARCHIVED - 60 lifeguards on duty this summer at the beaches of Aguilas
14 lookout points are permanently manned until mid-September at Águilas beaches
With the peak summer tourist season now under way the COPLA lifeguard and beach safety plan has been fully implemented in Águilas, in the south-west of the Region of Murcia, and until September 11 a total of 60 staff will be looking out for the safety and wellbeing of members of the public on the beaches between 11.30 and 19.30.
14 lookout points will be manned at the most popular Águilas beaches, and the staff will have at their disposal an all-terrain vehicle with which to access other beaches when required. Resuscitation equipment and defibrillators are available at all the lookout points and there are three rescue boats permanently available while a fourth is kept as a reserve to cover any eventuality.
At the same time, bathing chairs are available at three beaches to assist those of limited mobility who wish to take a dip in the Mediterranean.
