ARCHIVED - 16 Cartagena beaches prepare to host weddings in 2023
The coastal Cartagena beauty spots will be available for nuptials and other tourist events
Earlier this year, in response to suggestions from residents, Cartagena city council promised that more beaches would be made available for seaside weddings, and in recent days the mayor has given the official green light to no fewer than 16 coastal spots for nuptials beginning in 2023.
The beaches open for seaside weddings and other events are as follows:
La Manga: Cala de Turco (Mar Menor); Entremares beach (Mar Mediterráneo); three areas of Vivero beach (Mar Menor); Cavanna beach (Mar Menor); Ciervo beach (Mar Menor); and Galúa beach (Mar Mediterráneo).
Cabo de Palos: Levante beach and Cala Reona.
La Azohía: La Azohía beach and San Ginés.
Cartagena: Cala Cortina.
The rest of the Mar Menor: Estrella de Mar beach in Los Urrutias; Mar de Cristal beach and Villas Caravaning beach.
For engaged couples wishing to get married on one of Cartagena’s beaches, plenty of notice must be given: weddings planned for the first half of 2023 will need to be booked before September, while celebrations from September 16 to December 31 must be requested before April 15 next year.
No weddings will be permitted during the high season, which runs from June 15 to September 15.
“The celebration of weddings on our beaches is going to be a new boost to tourism and an attraction for our citizens,” the deputy mayor of Cartagena said, highlighting the “attractiveness of our coastline and of those 16 points in particular, which will undoubtedly make them even more desirable.”
