ARCHIVED - 15th May, English language tour of Alhama castle to coincide with International Museum Day
Alhama de Murcia also offers a 3-D virtual visit of the Los Baños archaeological museum
The easing of pandemic restrictions in recent weeks in Murcia and the rest of Spain has made it possible for International Museum Day to be celebrated in fitting style, and in Alhama de Murcia a series of events are being held around the official day on Tuesday 18th May.
Over the last few months the range of exhibits at various venues in Alhama has been widened, and the events and visits programmed are not limited to the day itself. The visits include guided tours of the medieval castle in English, explaining its role in the conflict between the Moors and the Christian forces of the Reconquista in the 13th century, as well as a 3-D virtual tour of the Los Baños archaeological museum: this will be available on Google, mimicking the model of world-renowned museums such as the Prado, the Louvre and the MOMA in New York.
The forthcoming visits to the castle are scheduled as follows:
Saturday 15th May
11.00: MEETINGS AT THE CASTLE, a 90-minute guided visit of the castle of Alhama in English setting out from the Museo Arqueológico Los Baños. Price 3 euros (2 euros for children aged 3 to 12).
Saturday 23rd May and Saturday 12th June
11.00: The same tour of the castle is offered in Spanish (“Encuentros en el Castillo”).
Prior booking is required for all of these visits: further details from the tourist office (telephone 968 633512, email turismo@alhamademurcia.es).
