ARCHIVED - New road signs in La Manga and other areas of Mar Menor
The municipality of Cartagena is improving, replacing and repainting the road signs in several areas to increase road safety
The department of Public Roads in Cartagena is carrying out a campaign to improve road signage in the municipality, starting with the coastal areas of La Manga del Mar Menor and other areas of the Mar Menor which lie within the Cartagena municipality.
In the past few days, over 200 deteriorated vertical road signs have been replaced in Los Nietos, Los Urrutias, Mar de Cristal, Islas Menores, Cabo de Palos, Los Belones and Playa Honda.
In addition, all of the horizontal road signs and markings in La Manga del Mar Menor have been repainted. The signs indicating the speed limit, which has recently changed to 30 km/h, on the roads in La Manga are also going to be reinforced.
Two new zebra crossings, which will be regulated by traffic lights, are being installed in Los Nietos and La Manga to increase safety for pedestrians.
The next areas to be improved will be Calle Jorge Juan and Calle Ronda Ciudad in La Union.
These improvements and reinforcements all aim to increase the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike, making sure that the correct signage is visible to all and drivers are fully aware of the new speed limits.
