ARCHIVED - Lowest 7-day average in the region of Valencia since beginning of April: Alicante Covid update May 5
149 new cases in the region of Valencia and 44 in the province of Alicante
The latest daily coronavirus bulletin posted by the regional government of the Valencia region (covering Castellón, Alicante and Valencia provinces) reports 149 new cases in the region of Valencia of which 44 are in the province of Alicante. The current 7-day average number of daily cases in the region is 146.42: the lowest figure since April 10 (145.14).
In the province of Alicante, 4 new covid-related deaths were reported in the latest update and there are currently 54 coronavirus patients in the province’s hospitals, of whom 12 are in intensive care.
Wednesday’s update also reports 8 deaths in the Comunidad Valenciana and the number of active Covid cases in the region has decreased to 3,150, whereas just a week ago, on May 28, there were almost 4,000 active cases.
The cumulative incidence per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days is 42.1, while the incidence rate in the past 7 days has decreased to 17.2. In addition, the national rate is also decreasing and is currently 205.52.
The regions with the lowest cumulative incidence rates, after the Comunidad Valenciana, are the Balearics (61.29) and the Region of Murcia (71.66). On the other hand, the Spanish regions with the highest rates are the Basque Country (478.27) and Madrid (329.12).
As of Wednesday evening, the Valencian reginal health authority has administered a total of 1,812,967 doses of the coronavirus vaccine. So far 213,061 doses have been administered in Castellón, 670,864 in Alicante and 929,042 in Valencia.
544,433 people are now fully immunised (two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca or the Janssen single dose vaccine), of which 66,357 are in the province of Castellón, 198,215 in Alicante and 279,861 in Valencia.
The health authority is confident that the vaccination of the first dose for all those aged 70-74 will be completed by next week and from the 17th May, the authorities will begin vaccinating those aged 59-55, so if you are within these lower age brackets, make sure that your details are fully correct at the local health centre.
