The latest statistical bulletin to be published by Spain’s property registrars, summarizing data from the third quarter of 2020, shows that the number of residential properties sold in Alicante between July and September was the third highest in Spain’s 50 provinces at 7,132, a figure exceeded only in Madrid and Barcelona and as much as 45 per cent higher than in the second quarter, which was badly affected by the spring lockdown.
Fifth on the list was the province of Valencia with 5,483 registered sales, while a further 1,591 accumulated in Castellón following an increase of 23.3 per cent over the total for the second quarter. The property market in the Comunidad Valenciana was also the third busiest among Spain’s 17 regions, behind those of Andalucía and Catalunya.
In addition, the proportion of purchases accounted for in the region of Valencia by non-Spanish buyers was 24.1 per cent, again the third highest in the country (this time behind the Balearic and Canary Islands with 27.1 per cent and 26.3 per cent respectively), and among the provinces Alicante was at the top of the table with a figure of 38.1 per cent.
