The Valencian Community has reported 1,508 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR test or through antigen tests within the last 24 hours, which brings the total number of positives to 98,905 people in the three provinces of the regions since the pandemic began. By province, the distribution of new positives is as follows: 108 in Castellón (11,340 in total), 589 in Alicante (34,245 in total) and 811 in the province of Valencia (53,318 in total).
Since the last update on Wednesday, 1,563 patients with coronavirus have been given the all-clear, so the total of people cured since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 92,337 in the region: 10,801 in Castellón, 31,751 in Alicante and 49,731 in Valencia.
Valencian hospitals currently have 1,354 patients admitted with more severe cases of the coronavirus: 126 in the province of Castellón, with 21 patients in ICU; 430 in the province of Alicante, 104 of them in the ICU intensive care units; and 798 in the province of Valencia, 166 of them in ICU.
The occupancy rate for patients with COVID-19 in the ward is 12.3% (and 59.5% for non-COVID-19 patients). In ICU, the occupation of patients with COVID-19 is 40% (non-COVID-19 patients, 30.4%).
28 deaths from coronavirus have been registered in the last 24 hours, so the total number of deaths in the region has now risen to 2,318 people: 319 in the province of Castellón, 830 in that of Alicante and 1,169 in that of Valencia.
Of these 28 deaths, 11 of these people lived in residences and ranged in age from 72 to 97 years. The other 17 deceased were between the ages of 72 and 93.

The region has consistently been at the bottom of the list of case numbers for Spain since the beginning of the second wave and is performing very well compared to other areas of Spain, although obviously, the regional government is keen to bring the case numbers down to the 25 per 100,000 over 7 days, or 60 over 14 days, which is the target for the virus being considered to be under control.
The total number of tests carried out for the detection of the coronavirus now totals 1,712,854, of which 1,551,057 have been through PCR and 161,797 through rapid test.
